NOTES:
This is one of my favourite tunes from back in the day, originally recorded by Barrett Strong, who also claimed that he wrote the song … denied by Berry Gordy.
So, even when it came to the song Money, money was in dispute … as usual!
The song was later covered by The Beatles … and many other artists thereafter.
First time I ever heard it was by J. Smith And The Majestics at Club Trocadero.
We recorded the tune as part of a CD project, along with one of our own songs.
In fact, this song represents one of the most important mantras of our time.
It enunciates what many feel about what is most important in their lives.
Whether they admit that … or even recognize that is the case for them personally.
When push comes to shove, “Gold and silver always call the shots” … a line from the other tune in the CD project … Where Did We Go Wrong … money wins out!
As they say, money is the root of all evil … and they were right on the money!
Wonderful double ride guitar solo here from Graham Young … enjoy.
