Gives me great pleasure to share our latest recording ... Raining Fire.

If that sounds like deja vu all over again to some of you, you are correct. This song was written in the mid 1980's ... at the time to address acid rain. It was recorded as a demo and offered to The Acid Rain Coalition. That recording featured some ex Imperials and Sam Reid of Glass Tiger. Raining Fire was the final piece on the Bobby Kris Now CD in 1998. With a 10 piece band, 5 piece horns and the guitar of Larry Leishman. Then we made a performance video of it at the Newmarket Festival 2018.

That video made me think we should go back into the studio with it. Had something to do with Al Cross and a maraca ... maracas rule! And it certainly does here ... played live with the kit ... not overdubbed. And the wonderful guitar playing of Graham Young on both occasions. Since I wrote the song in 1985 it has become a metaphor for all of the sundry compelling environmental issues we are facing at this time. Unfortunately things have not gotten any better here ... only much worse.

We are releasing our version of A Hard Rain's A Gonna Fall ... again. The first time we released this recording of the Bob Dylan classic was in early Jan. 2017 ... to alert everyone to the inauguration of Donald Trump. And indeed a hard rain has fallen on that beleaguered country ever since! And as it is the most powerful country in the world, on everyone else too!

This time we are releasing the song in reference to the upcoming US election ... in which we are doomed no matter what happens!

If Trump wins the outcome is obvious ... we are all screwed ... period! However if he loses ... which he most certainly will do ... he will not leave The White House claiming the election was rigged, fraudulent, fake news. In fact he is already saying that ... and calling out The Proud Boys to boot! Anyone who is in doubt of that should just watch the end of the "debate'. Where we go from there is anyone's guess but it can't be anywhere good. And the actual vote count won't matter either ... truth and facts are relative terms in the world of today ... especially in the world of Donald Trump! So unfortunately we are doomed ... either way!

This is just the perfect song for this upcoming difficult time in our lives. And indeed a very hard rain is likely gonna fall on us all for quite a while! So dust off that umbrella ... it may come in handy very soon.

Would like to thank Mike Raines for his powerful image for this song. It really illustrates our view from here of what is going on down there. Old Glory has truly seen better days and hopefully will again one day.

We realize we are treading on rather sacred ground in recording this tune. One of Dylan's finest and most important early songs ... a masterpiece. We recognize and respect that and hope the recording reflects such. However, in our typically irreverent fashion we have recorded the song in 4/4 time ... felt it worked well for us and had a better feel for our band.

It was originally done in 3/4 time by the master on The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5al0HmR4to ... brilliant.

On this tune our regular line up is joined by Denis Keldie on accordion. Always a pleasure to have Denis sit in with us ... he is a wonderful player. The song was recorded at Chalet Studio near Claremont in Dec. 2016. The session was hosted by David Chester.

On January 25, 1967 The Beatles performed a new song on one of the first world wide simulcasts where everyone on the planet could watch at the very same time.

The band was challenged to write a song that could be embraced by everyone.

The song was … All You Need Is Love … mission accomplished.

A song that talked about bringing people together, respecting each other, our place.

Perhaps ideas that deserve some serious attention in these challenging times.

Surely the notion of bringing people together about anything is worthwhile.

Burrows And Company has recorded this classic John Lennon song as Part 1 of a project, out of respect and homage … in celebration of this significant moment.

And hopefully to draw some attention to the concepts and the values expressed.

In the minds of many one of The Beatles’ finest contributions to a better world.

Something worth considering and pursuing in these difficult times.

Part 2 of this project involves finding a good gospel choir that would be interested in joining us on this recording … can just hear a choir singing with us on this tune.

First we have to find the choir … then we have to find a way to compensate them.

And then we would get to record them and have them carry us to a new level.

So if anyone out there reading this does know of such a choir, please get in touch.

Bob
